Why is it so hard to get " back on track" after a derailment?!?😢 😡 For some reason when I binge it takes me 2 or 3 days of that before I get back on track..and I feel awful because I don't eat like that. I didn't even log everything after awhile because I was disgusted. I ate bread, lots of fruit, and lots of Hershey's chocolate nuggets..I blame my husband for buying those..🤣(jk)
I really know the answer to my question but I'm just being whiney today...

I know exactly how you feel! I have really been so good for about 3 months now just having a bad day once or twice. But a few days ago I went to the grocery store just for half and half for my coffee. I ended up buying peanut m&m's, hash brown patties and a box of ice cream drumsticks. When I do things like that I feel like I have to eat it all, so it's out of the house and then I can be good again. Took me 3 days to eat it all and basically nothing else. Really unhealthy. Hopefully, today will be day 1 of starting over with my plan.

I find that not thinking about the 'fails' too hard and long, and not having punative thoughts, helps me get on with it. We're only human, and our brains are wired for food glorious food!

I highly suggest giving yourself at least one treat a day. A couple Hersey kisses or a cookie everyday isn’t gonna throw off your calories or macros too much. But restricting too much will always lead to a binge, which sets you back physically and emotionally. Over 100g of sugar a day is detrimental to human health, but having a couple cookies a day is not. Everything in moderation 💗

Include some liver and organ meats :p ...When I don't get liver weekly my hunger is through the roof and tend to overeat.

Read up a bit on the recommendations for liver consumption. There are concerns for fibrosis of your heart and liver with EXCESSIVE intake as well as cholesterol related problems and Vitamin A toxicity.. I think the recommendation is about 6 ounces, maybe 8 . Do a GOOGLE and get the full lowdown. It’s an interesting subject

kenna and xxgomez, I won't be eating liver...I was anemic as a child and my mom forced me to eat it a few xs a week. Cannot even smell it now without gagging. Thx for suggestion though.💜

Redporch, I too have made my logging available to my nutritionist. That's one reason I quit logging yesterday. She already explained to me what happened after I fessed up to her this morning. It had to do with after 2 extreme workouts I did not eat enough protein, nor did I drink enough fluids.

None of us are perfect at it --- we all do the same thing - the awesome thing is - we get back on track - isn't it? It is so - Diane...we get back on track. I now call it getting back in the rut - whenever I try to run up on top of the grove on the sides of the path - I end up back in the rut - eating healthier again - because the guilt I suffer from not doing the right thing is worse than doing the right thing.

Fritzy, I know that feeling. I felt like I needed to eat all the chocolate so I wouldn't have temptation the next day...I hope you are doing better..we all have to stick together and encourage each other! 💜👍

I think you're onto a lot more than you realize... My binges usually last a couple days, and it takes a lot of effort to get back into it for me as well... It seems to be something of a cycle, though I'm not certain of the reasons why... Guilt and feeling down about it plague me afterwards, because I know that I knew better in the first place, and also that I wasn't "starving" when I did it!.... After this last binge of mine over the past week or so, I realized that the true hinge point of the mistake happens at the grocery store, not in the kitchen. Availability is the culprit. Alas, though I thought it through, again just yesterday, I bought a couple more jars of peanuts under the heading of doing some cooking with them... Now I realize, that was the same reasoning over the last ones that eventually became just a snack.... We'll, recognition is the start of recovery I guess... Live and learn!! 🤔

If you are not genuinely hungry have a written list on your fridge of things to do in place of eating! Its helped me with my binge eating disorder to not eat when im not hungry. Examples - clean 1 cabinet out, declutter 1 flat surface, exercise, self care, walk outside/weed the garden, play with kids/pets...etc.
