How Im feeling lately...know Im not overweight but feeling discouraged...I am still having stomach issues. The fact that I can no longer tolerate protien powders is not helping me reach my goal of 100+ protien grams a day. I know today is a new day....

Do you need 100 grams of protein a day? I've asked my doctor about how much I need and he says 40 grams is sufficient. When I asked about muscles he told me that unless I am going to be cutting down trees not to worry about building muscles and that we can get all the protein we need from plants. He doesn't want me using protein powders. Now, that's just my doctor, who is vegan. I am not vegan but don't eat much meat. I get most of my protein from dairy.

Fritzy, Thank you for your input. 💜 I am trying to build and I workout 6 days a week so yes I need the extra protien. I have tried to isolate what it is that is upsetting my stomach so I eliminated one thing a day. I narrowed it down to protien bars and collagen. I'm off all protien additives right now cuz I saw a post that to much artificial protien powder etc can harm your kidneys. I may slowly introduce powder 1st. Not sure yet. I do know I won't use as much as I was..I'm trying to supplement by eating more meats but it's hard...

Hugs Diana. And hang in there. We live in unusual times. Sorry about your protein issue. Have you tried eggwhite powder or defatted pb flour.

Ruth, sorry to hear that. These are strange times! Liv and Shaylee, I probably will switch to a vegan powder. Trying to do some research on brands right now.💜

Interested to hear how that goes. Whey is nice for workouts but there are other options for sure

you can also make your own from dried peas. need a vitamix with the grains blade or equivalent. i also remember one made from hemp. sure you can google and find some good stuff.

Diana, I was just at a friend's yesterday and we were talking about getting protein, she showed my a box of pasta made with black beans that haf 25g of protein per serving. Also, shrimp is high in protein, low in the other two macros. I just discovered Oikos yogurt, the Pro 25 has, you guessed it, 25grams of protein per serving. As you probably already know, it's best to get nourishment from real foods. I must admit, I have a tub of protein powder I use every now and then, but will use it less frequently now that you shared this information. Thank you. Good luck with figuring thid out. 👍

That's interesting. Since going plant based in October I've lost 30lbs and maintained my muscle mass. When I did the same thing on a ketogenic diet I looked skinny fat and soft. My mental acuity was better but the weight loss was partially from glycogen stores being depleted so that feels like cheating.

Liv, I'll keep posting, I hope to have an answer soon..💜 Erq, we are about the same, weight wise. I appreciate compliment. Thank u. Im ok weight wise but I have baggy old lady skin and I noticed while doing high protein I started to tighten up. I was really beginning to develop my muscles I'm afraid now it will all go away..💜😒

🤣 Can you eat yogurt? that Oikos triple zero has 15g protein. Some days I eat 2 of them.

Bear, yes I eat greek yogurt. I didn't know Oikos has that much protien. From foods I usually get about 60 grams of protein. I guess I'll just have to up the food...💜

Fair side dairy also has higher protein.
