Today's totals were under 2,000 calories, but I was lacking 4g of Fiber, so I went ahead and ate an Atkins Chocolate Caramel Nut Roll Bar (which added 7 Fiber grams) Made good choices today. Limited quantities in servings, but then would add another complete serving later (watermelon and cabbage). Overall, I feel like I made good decisions and concentrated on the things that were most important to me. Definitely got in my 5 servings of fruits and vegetables. Only drank 9 waters (was shooting for 10, but I did much better on limiting the amount of Diet Coke I "usually" drink, so all good.

Gotta go to the store tomorrow and get some more cabbage to cook (ate it all tonight) and another watermelon or some other kind of "dessert" fruit. Ended up with two bowls of watermelon in today's plan.

On positive notes, My husband wanted roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy and broccoli for dinner, which I made for him, but I had a 5-oz piece of Bourbon Salmon instead of roast, gravy and mashed potatoes. Just felt like it would be a better choice for me.

Still lots of room for improvement, but I feel like I am at least headed in the right direction! I could have ended the day around 1,800 calories, but I wanted some more watermelon, and then I noticed that I was still lacking in Fiber, so added something else. Going to plan AHEAD more carefully tomorrow so I don't end up in the same situation again tomorrow night.

After not doing ANY food journaling for over two months, it feels new to me again. I'm sure I'll be an old pro again before long, though.

Grandson coming over for a swim lesson at 10:30 in the morning and then I have to take him home at 1 so I can be at PT by 1:30. Will probably try to fit in a bit of BJ's shopping and maybe even a Food Lion run. Best way to make good choices is to have good choices already in the house and prepared!

My husband also wanted a faux sweet potato casserole tonight. I LOVE sweet potato casserole, but this was just a can of Glory brand Southern Sweet Potatoes, which he had me doctor up by putting some mini marshmallows and broken pecan pieces on top of it and then heat it in the toaster oven so the marshmallows would pouf and brown. He really liked it, but I'm a die-hard REAL Sweet Potato Casserole person, so I wasn't interested in having a knock-off. Watermelon suited me just fine. I also had one ounce of cashews for a small snack in the early afternoon.

Things I noticed today - added a lot of calories in Ranch dressing on my salad, and a lot of calories in tartar sauce, which I really didn't NEED since the salmon was already nicely bourbon flavored. Will try to limit those kinds of things in the future. I REALLY like the Tyson Southern Style Chicken Tenderloins, but they ARE breaded, which I know isn't the best possible choice. For now, though, they're staying around. Makes it very easy to add some protein to my salads.

OK, I've already taken my Ambien, and I can see that I'm beginning to ramble. Next will be spilling my deepest, darkest secrets - so better go ... FAST! Night all. See ya tomorrow!

".. so I wasn't interested in having a knock off." To me, this type of thinking is crucial to long term success. Not "I can't have it". Rather "it's not worth the calories." Nice work.

I have written a very thought out paragraph before and fell asleep with my finger hitting the erase button open my eyes and my thoughts were lost. Couldn’t recall what the heck I was talking about!🙃🤣

plus "southern style' I believe just means its in sugar sauce, then adding marshmallows, you get a very gooey sweet dish. I'm with you - stick with the real thing.

my sister used to put marshmallows and brown sugar gag me with a spoon I like to slow roast mine in the oven it makes such a difference in texture just yum glad you didn't go for the other stuff
