After my last post about slight weight gain I got a call from my nutritionist. Her first question was, Have I been extra hungry lately? I responded, Yes! She told me to go back and look at my food log. ( she has access to it as well) She pointed out that although my carbs and protein were good on most days, my fat intake was pretty low. A couple of days my fat intake was around 16 grams a day and another was 23 grams! I usually eat 100-120 grams of protein, 80-100 carbs, and 40-50 grams of fat daily. My calories have also been a bit low. I guess I’ve been so Uber focused on getting the protein in and keeping carbs on point that I forgot about the importance of getting enough fat in. My nutritionist pointed out that isn’t good to limit fats as it triggers our fat cells to hoard calories, slows our metabolism, and causes us to feel hungry. (That’s the condensed explanation) Yesterday I upped my fat to 40ish grams and it worked! I was not near as hungry at 7 pm like I have been. We shall see if that continues. I’m intrigued…
This is a big reason I keep seeing my nutritionist. She is still teaching me new things, reminding me about things I forget, and going once a month has been a good fit.( she checks in with me per text at least once a week still) I generally do CICO but still count macros as well. This is my WOE and it has worked for me. 💜💪🏼💜💪🏼

YOH, your husband is a beast! That's quite a workout! I workout 5-6 days a week and on one of my lifting days I do an at home workout. I love Caroline Girvan. She is my go to..I workout to her a lot while on vacation too. I also do a double on Weds 1st bodypump and then pop pilates. I'm usually pretty tired after that . I still don't know how you walk that far every day! I do about 1.5 - 2 miles and I am exhausted!🩷🩷

Leah, Thanks for the info! I have a couple of autoimmune issues. My endocrinologist is great and leans towards natural healing. He always tells me clean eating and higher fat are essential for us. I definitely noticed a big difference in my health when I ate over 80% clean. I had more energy and my joints didn't give me as many problems. PS, Caroline Girvan is a great at home workout. I discovered her from Nikita, a fellow FS member.

Redporch, I too like red meat but for me it's a steak or tritip. Tomorrow Joe is smoking a brisket on our Traeger. I'll meet my fat grams then for sure! I prep mostly chicken but I do enjoy a taco salad as well. My nutritionist is always after me to use full fat dressings but to be honest I got so used to having fat free that I like those better. My trainer is a woman so I can tell her I want to build my 🍑...🩷

Fritzy, I do get some fat from red meats which I need to lift. I also do eat protein bars and have pre made protein shakes occasionally, again to keep protein up. When I was eating clean I did not eat bars. You are right that it gets more complicated when you count calories and macros. I’ve often said that maintenance can be just as hard to juggle as dieting. Hope all is well with you!💜💜

Diana, I like red meat but don't eat it much because cholesterol results were a little high a few months ago. This is the of year where I will cook more often so I keep ground beef in the freezer to use in chili and spaghetti sauce. I also make a chuck roast a couple times during winter. I have several boxes of protein bara and a box of protein shake mix. I may use them once or twice a month when my protein numbers are low. I bought them during the storms last winter when delivery trucks couldn't get to grocery stores, just to have things in the house in case that happens again.

Thank you for sharing that. I don't hear much about fat. Usually just to get healthy ones.
