Yesterday was my 1st workout since Drs visit where they tweaked my pacemaker. The device tech did not put ii in sports mode but whatever tweaks they did made my workout incredibly hard. It was one of the worst workouts I've had in a long time. I took body pump ( weightlifting to music) and found I was struggling with my regular weight selection. About 45 min into class I began to get really nauseous. Coincidence? I don't know...I take the same class on Weds so I'll see if it's any better.
In my last post I said I was pacing 92-96% but I received Drs overview of my appointment and what they did etc and she noted pacemaker was actually pacing 97% of the time. That means in one minute my heart only beats 3 times on its own and the pacemaker is doing all the work..Kind of scary...
Had a really good food day yesterday. Stuck to my macros and ate clean, healthy foods. It's what works for me. Today I'm going for blood work to see if my thyroid is low again. It would explain why I'm not able to lose any weight, even though I've been 99% sticking to my diet. (had a bad day on Sunday) I'm also losing hair and my nails are very ridgey and brittle. Have a bit of brain fog and moodiness as well.

Went for my 3 month post op heart procedure checkup yesterday at San Diego State University . I was so excited as they were supposed to tweak my pacemaker to allow optimal results when I workout. Didn’t go as well as expected. The exam went great, heart sounds strong so that’s a plus. Device check however wasn’t as positive. I am pacing between 92-96%. What that means is the pacemaker is doing most of the work and my heart is only beating 4-8% of the time on its own. We had hoped for better results in that department. Also my upper and lower ventricles are both pacing. The upper doesn’t matter, it can pace 100% of the time and it’s ok but if the lower ventricles pace too often it can cause heart damage. They tried to adjust it but it kept going back to original pacing. Because of this, they did not feel that it was wise to adjust pacemaker into full sports mode. They did do some slight adjustments but mostly those are to see if they can slow down the high pacing rate. I am allowed to work out but they suggested I do 4-5 days instead of 6 as far as weightlifting goes. I can still workout 6 days but they want me to walk or do some type of easy cardio instead. I also need to have echos done about every 3 months or so, especially if they see something on my heart monitor. I’m disappointed but I still feel so much better than I felt when I had the broken leads.( wires) I am able to get my heart rate higher than before so that’s a plus and my heart itself is strong so that is definitely a win. It’s just the electrical part that isn’t great but perhaps as time goes by it will improve. The Drs at UCSD are so incredible I’m so impressed with their knowledge and care. It is so worth traveling to San Diego to be under their care! 💜
