I'm feeling fine today after a bad day yesterday. Had no idea what happened but I had a high fever between 101 and 102 and pain in the lower abdomen. They fever went down to about 99.9 after taking Tylenol and it's normal this morning.

One of the smoke detectors is chirping. Drives me crazy. I don't feel like going down all the garage steps to bring in a ladder and try to take out the battery and put in a new one. Last time this happened I couldn't find the battery. This appears to be a different smoke detector.

Tomorrow morning I take Fritzy in for more dental work. I am dreading that. He seems to hate me for about a week anytime I take him to the vet. And the last dental work didn't go so well. He ended up with an infection as stitches didn't hold and then he got an ear infection of all crazy things. They had to do a lab test to confirm the ear was infected, I guess they can't see in far enough. But I took him in because he kept shaking his head like he was trying to get something out of his ears. The vet must hear all kinds of reasons we take our fur babies to see them, but we know when there is something wrong.

Glad to hear that you are feeling better. That was a short one. That is good. Hope the appointment goes well!

Thanks Liv! I don't understand the fever at all. But I don't have it today. FYI I gave in and went to the garage and got the ladder and changed the battery in the smoke detector. Bobby barks at it when it chirps.

Those smoke detectors are so annoying, but you've got to fix the chirping or you couldn't sleep. I hope you have some peace.

Mine only go off at 2:30 in the morning when it is pouring rain. I have had to make a drive to Walgreens a couple of times ! When Covid lockdown first happened I stocked up on batteries so I should be good for awhile. I take my kitty to the vet tomorrow also for her bi annual lab work and check up. She is 15 and kidney levels starting to move up. We switched up her diet and that has them back to normal but every time she has lab work it is stressful for me. good luck tomorrow !

Erika - I did put a new battery in the smoke detector. It was as bad as previous times. This is a newer detector and it had a compartment for the battery and it was easy to take it out and put in a new battery. Of course it took a few minutes to start chirping again and I had put the battery in backwards. YetAnother - thanks! I had to take my diabetic cat Marco to the vet last week and they kept him all day to keep drawing blood. He meowed about 100 times a minute on the 7 mile drive to the vet. Fritzy, who I take tomorrow gets even more stressed out and then he hides under the bed every time he sees me for a week, afraid I'm going to take him back in the car. Crazycat - I think I stress out more than the cats do. I've joked with the receptionist in the office that I should just have my pension check sent to them each month. I spend so much money at the vet. And this is Fritzy's 2nd dental appointment. It was over $1200 last time after everything. Thanks Bear, I feel fine, just a little touchy in my stomach.

YetAnother - I have 3 indoor cats. Fritzy is the one going to the vet tomorrow for dental work. Marco is the one who is diabetic. I found out over a year ago when I took him to see the vet because he was so overweight and I noticed he was urinating huge amounts. He's doing fine with insulin. I actually use a household budget so put about $150-$200 a month for "vet and grooming" so I have the money when I need it. It used to be about $50 a month until the cats started aging. I also have a budget for pet food and litter. That's at least $200 a month! Thanks Buenitabishop - I am much better, but the fever concerns me so I may just check with my doctor to see why they could have happened.

Thanks Yet. When I first signed up for FS I really didn't know what it was about. I was using it to look up calories and protein grams in food. Then I saw I could log my food. They wanted me to pick a user ID so I used one I often use. Didn't realize it would be seen by everyone once I started to journal. But now everyone knows me as Fritzy. Marco is fine and Fritzy is recovering. Thanks Adameve - I feel fine now. Thanks REM - well the vet bill was $555 but that included almost $100 for Marco's insulin. They told me they didn't charge me for some shining and other cleaning of the teeth. They extracted 2 teeth and now he doesn't really have any left other than the tiny bottom teeth (incisors?) So I don't know what they shined. Last time they tooth 7 teeth out and he seems to be okay although he's still a little mad at me.

Yeah, those vet bills can really add up! Glad you're all feeling better.

Thanks Erika - I think Fritzy is done with vet bills for awhile as long as he heals like he should. No teeth left. And the $450 or so for him wasn't as bad as a few months ago when it was over $1200 with 7 extractions, then an infection, pain meds, antibiotics, etc. Marco is in the budget for about $100 a month for insulin and syringes. And the vet just reduced his dosage so the insulin will last longer. Yay!

Poor kitty! Do you just feed him wet food then? My little dog keeps getting teeth pulled too. I am just wondering what I will feed him if he can't chew. He's never been a good eater. If I feed him wet food he only wants a little then I waste the can before he could eat the rest. I give him wet softened kibble but he doesn't always eat it. I have to add a little turkey, chicken or eggs to it. He's supposed to be on a urinary diet but he's so finicky it's hard.

Bear - Fritzy will eat dry food and even dry cat treats. I guess he doesn't need to chew them. I had a cat who died last year, all her teeth had been pulled. She had stomatitis, my vet said that makes their teeth and gums painful. Fritzy may have the same thing. He does like canned food though. It doesn't go to waste if he doesn't eat much because I have 2 other cats that finish what he doesn't eat. Have you tried jars of baby food for your little dog? If I can't find one of my cats all I have to do is open a jar - they know the sound and come running. Sometimes I boil and then shred chicken breasts for the cats and Bobby too.

Our Yorkie has had a lot (most) of his teeth pulled. We soak his dry kibble in water (I actually microwave it 15 seconds). He also gets a combo of rice, green beans & can food for dinner. He likes it.

Sherry - My dog loves green beans! The vet said he should lose around 5 pounds - I don't see why but I am trying so he doesn't develop any health issues. She said green beans is a good way to add bulk to his food with little calories. I give him 1/3 of a can of food (small can, the size of cat food) and a quarter cup of dry food and 1/4 to 1/2 cup of green beans. He would love rice too but I rarely cook for him
