It is harder to lose weight with age, I hope you will not lose your spirit though ❤

I’m 70 and have lost 25 pounds in the last two months. I went on a supervised keto diet to get my diabetes under control. I’m delighted with the results.

Don't give up. If one "program" doesn't work, try another one. Most any "diet" can be successful for someone - it just depends on whether it is right FOR YOU. Regroup. Restock. Rock on.

May I ask what you're trying now? Not every diet works for every person, so you might need a different strategy. Ultimately, the diet that works best is the one you can stick to without suffering. What makes it confusing is that there is so much conflicting info out there touting everything from carnivore to vegan as the "one true way." Yvonne has clearly had success with keto while I've gone the opposite direction to nearly all plant-based. I will suggest there's a fair amount of evidence that processed and restaurant foods entice people to eat more calories, although I don't know how much (if any) of your diet that is

This post struck me in the heart. I don’t know either. Different advice at every turn. My husband and I are praying together for our Father to guide us to willpower motivation and Knowledge on how to.

Fast Metabolism Diet by Haylie Pomroy. It worked in my 50's and now at 67. You can buy the book and follow the rules. It is tough if you love dairy like me, but you get used to it. This time, I'm down 20 lbs in 48 days. You also get to eat a lot of food. Good luck.

I agree with most others. I lost almost 50 lbs but when I first started I had no idea which direction to go...( I'm 64) For example I tried calorie cutting to about 1000 cals a day but I was eating about 6 servings of fruit a day and I wasn't exercising at all. For me that didn't work. I got a nutritionist and that was a game changer for me. We came up with a plan that included changing food habits and more exercise. It's what works for me and that's what you have to figure out. Find something that works for you.

I am still figuring out what works for me. A slow process for me. Age 73 and medical wiith medication issues. My Doc suggests to strive for 4 pounds a month. Better than nothing!!! See you around!

My opinion is on track with the other posts here. You need to find a Way of Eating that is healthy and sustainable for you and your personal preferences. For instance, I don’t feel great eating large amounts of meat and gradually made my way to a plant based WOE. Others on this site get enjoyment and weight-loss success from the keto meat-centric diet. I feel better spreading my calories out throughout the day. Others feel better eating One Meal A Day (OMAD). In any case, what all of these WOE have in common for weight-loss is restricting your calories by 300-500 per day below your Basal Metabolic Rate needs AND getting at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise per day. The other thing they all have in common is to avoid ADDED sugar and Processed Foods. Sugar from fruit and small amounts of real sugar in homemade goods is fine. Since I have a bum knee, I break my exercise up into 15 minute walks 2-3 times per day and light weight strength training every other day for about 20 minutes. I am 62 and obese. I have lost 42 lbs since the end of February by paying attention. I weigh myself on Saturday mornings and do not consider small losses as failures. I am doing this so that I can enjoy my remaining years and participate in more activities with my family and friends. I don’t care about being rock hard or rocking a bikini. I just want to be able to do the things I love. Hopefully you will find what works best for you. Maybe experiment with some of the approaches to see what you like? After all, what do you have to lose? Maybe a little bit of weight.

I get you... my grandma is 71 and works out in the yard, but she eats every hour and never loses weight.

Most plans agree that colorful vegetables are healthy and good for weight loss. They are not calorie dense, so you can eat enough to physically fill your stomach without too many calories, provided you don't put much fat in them. Protein, whether lean meat, beans, eggs, or tofu, will help keep your muscles strong and help you stay full. A little bit of healthy fat - olive oil, avocado, maybe grassfed butter - will make your meals more enjoyable and aid satiety. Fruit, starchy vegetables, and whole grains- maybe/probably, but not too much. Get a food scale and weigh everything. Track your calories, set a goal, and stick to it. Minimize restaurant and processed food. Keep treats (sweets, chips) small (1/4 the amount you would otherwise have) and infrequent (not daily). Track everything! Weight loss is about calorie balance, and the tips above will help you get the nutrition you need while reducing calories.

I don't know how to find people on here, but I would suggest you follow BuenitaBishop and some others that post photos of their meals.

I have thyroid and pituitary issue which impose hassles for me losing. ive tried everything until I did intermittent fasting mixed with a keto diet and ive lost 48 lbs. there are so many factors that could cause it. food rich in veggies and protein and a caloric intake of 1100 is the only thing I can think of. I'm wishing you the best.

I decided to just go with calories in being less than the calories out. I just had to find what worked after all the years and all the trying
