A bittersweet moment. 

Omg!!!!! Congrats! I remember when my youngest girl left home to go to college, I had no clue what I was feeling, I had to actually Google it to find out that I had a huge feeling of melancholy. I’ve never felt anything like that before. But don’t you worry they always come back. 

Thanks everyone. I wish he was just going to college. We've been through that twice. This time it's the youngest leaving to move 3000 miles away for his job. No coming back, not in the same way. Intellectually this is fantastic. He got a job in his chosen field, mechanical engineering, in our former home city, with access to his high school friends and our daughter, who is also a mechanical engineer near Philly. All good..... Except for the hole in my gut from losing his company, his help, and the relationship we finally developed in the year he spent living at home due to covid19. Bittersweet sums it up well. For now we'll enjoy getting him situated here in PA before we head back to that empty nest in LA.

It's a process for sure! We started traveling and that really helped!
